I have found time and again that abiding in Christ is where the strength is to endure with, since that is where life is drawn from day to day.
Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
[Wait: Bind together by twisting like a grape vine]
John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."
What is so deceptive about the 'unity' or 'ecumenical movement' is that it also binds Jesus together with who misrepresents and are in fact enemies of the gospel, manufacturing another gospel and another Jesus or turn Him into a political activist who is a left handed socialist.
What is certain is that it is not revival that brings in those last seven years but rather evil as Jesus relates in Matthew 24:
Matthew 24: 6 "And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." (kept safe, delivered)
This brings us back to the start, how do we endure when the American Presidential election process sours the attitude, seeing how cold people have the capacity to get who claim to represent Jesus to the world, but in fact are preying on sheep, good to be angry about that but not when it causes love to fade out and replaced with something dead or dying when we start to get detached from our source of life when we see iniquity that is abounding today, can drain anybody, especially if we have a passion to see the preservation of purity and what is genuine and simple without being dummied-down and polluted.
So, how do we stay consistent and endure to go the distance where at some point along the way we hear that shout that says we have finished our course and time to see what God has prepared for those who love Him ? All wrapped up in a single world, love, the kind He gives that comes from Him and can't be manufactured or generated in a revival meeting.
John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
John 15:12 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."
John 15:17 " These things I command you, that ye love one another."
Romans 13:8 "Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law."
1Thessalonians 4:9 "But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another."
1Pe 1:22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
1John 3:11 "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another."
1John 3:23 "And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment."
1John 4:7 "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God."
1John 4:11 "Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another."
1John 4:12 "No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us."
2John 1:5 "And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another."
Seems so simple, but we drift, getting into things that make us bitter or frustrated and we start to degenerate or become self oriented where priorities change to - 'me first, God second and others last'. We can monitor our own life to see where priorities change, time to get them back in order.
There are indications in looking for the things that happen when we begin to degenerate from Christ, we lose a passion for souls or the lost, passion for the people of God, passion for the truth rather than religion, lose sight of eternal things, focus on self like 'woe is me' and all that, but most important we lose that passion for Jesus when we start to look elsewhere for things to fill the empty spaces with, start to be like that women Jesus met at the well with a hole in her heart, five husbands and still not satisfied.
Never lose sight of the parable of the sower:
Luke 21:13 "And he said unto them, Know ye not this parable? and how then will ye know all parables?"
14 "The sower soweth the word.
15 And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
18 And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,
19 And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
20 And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.
We all fit into one of these categories, what is produced in our life depends on the kind of ground we provide for the Word of God to be planted in, taking root and maturing to a balanced full grown individual in Jesus, not an overgrown Baby Huey Believer still in diapers and feeding from the bottle because meat can not be digested.
Hebrews 5:14 "But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil."
When abiding in Christ, we draw life from Him, all the good stuff that fills the hole in the heart and truly binds His church together which does not take an 'ecumenical movement' to accomplish because the church is already one body, we just lose that first love and fail to maintain it.
