I am sick to death of super-saints or wannabe super-saints, the kind who have never learned to serve before seeking to lead, those with the heart of a hireling and not a shepherd as David.
"But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep." John 10:12
Had to get that out of the way, but enjoyed some private time this morning, looking to see what 1Corinthians 10:12 had in common with Phillipians 3: 8-14.
People who seek to walk by faith are people who seek to know Jesus, as Paul sought to know Jesus, admitting that he had only scratched the surface and was not satisfied with where he was at in his development. He had all the spiritual gifts taught by Jesus from scratch, but still so much more to learn and understand which he did not know or understand. Not satisfied with where he was at in that journey to full maturity and getting to know Jesus better.
" Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Phillipians 3: 8 - 14
1Corinthians 10:12 " Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."
I knew there was a connection here, had to look at the self-satisfied super-saints playing the role today of the hirelings. The only thing that matters is if you have money to part with and allow them the illusion of being someone on the mountain top pitching food to the bottom feeders.
I study in seeing needs to be met personally, needing to zero in on why I can get tossed on my ear so easy sometimes and mess up like I was still buried in the dung-pile. Seeing some light starting to shine through the cracks or out of the darkness, still had an old mentality buried in there somewhere of arriving at a place of being self satisfied or being more than what I was yesterday, making the same mistakes and why I would take another tumble.
" Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?" Galatians 3:3
Yes indeed, could see why Paul could say to be also a follower of him or his manner of life, the heart of the man who knew that in spite of being an apostle with all the gifts, he was still running a race and was barely out of the gate. Still needed to know more of Jesus in a personal way, understanding all that was accomplished in Jesus that nobody could improve upon. But many today are acting like they can or give the illusion of being a front-runner.
So we start again, learning old things we have never really learned. There is no such thing as a super-saint. It's not going to change us or make us any better than we were yesterday. Danger in being self-satisfied because we only put on the blinders and heed the old lies that we can improve on what Jesus began in us, that is why we trip over our own feet and walk like a duck.
Hireling = One who is hired, or who serves for wages; esp., one whose
motive and interest in serving another are wholly gainful; (Webster's Dictionary)
