Do You Need A Change?

 Who is your Lord?

Yesterday I had to take my children into town for a doctor’s appointment and we were listening to Steven Curtis Chapman’s song titled “The Change”. The lyrics of this song have always spoken to me and challenged me. In the lyrics of the song, Steven talks about having a Christian key chain, bumper sticker, clothes and so on. But then the song asks the question even though that stuff is all well and good what about the change?

In The Midst Of The Storm

 Life lessons from Hurricane Rita

The Lord has been showing me something the last few days in reflecting on the last week or so in my life. Seems to be something really awesome that He is showing me though I admit that I am still somewhat trying to figure it all out. Exactly one week ago tomorrow evening I had to spend all night in the car driving sixteen hours to flee from Hurricane Rita. Funny thing about a long road trip, it gives you a lot of time to think and especially a road trip that starts around six o'clock in the evening and does not end until almost ten o'clock the next morning....

When Life Brings You Down

Do you need glasses to see your way clear?

There are times when I'm cruising through life and everything seems just peachy. Things are good with work, my family and my friends. Life couldn't be better and it's like I'm coasting on automatic, enjoying the scenery. WHAM! Then, seemingly from out of nowhere, life throws me a curveball. My routine gets disrupted, my life gets turned upside down, my emotions are all over the map and my attitude gets just plain rotten. Or when I start to get into a slump because things just aren't going well in my life and I just can't seem to count my blessings.....

Discuss, Never Argue

The difference between an Argument and a Discussion

There are some personalities that can be labeled as argumentative and that shows in their behavior and relationships. Arguments can be avoided and a lot of heartache prevented by being a little careful. The best way to win an argument is to avoid it. An argument is one thing you will never win. If you win, you lose; if you lose, you lose. If you win an argument but lose a good job, customer, friend or marriage, what kind of victory is it? Pretty empty....

The Father Who Loves Us

This past weekend I was busy with the task of keeping our children busy while my wife ran some of the errands that we do not have time to take care of during the week. At four years old they are not exactly going to enter professional sports anytime soon but they sure love to play anyway......

How to live an abundant life

More often than not, on weekdays I leave my office at five o'clock and go to pick up our boys from their school that is not very far up the road from my office. This past Friday, we were playing baseball in the front yard while we were waiting.......

Ever Been Through A Valley?

 Out in the 'wilderness'

Have you ever been in a valley or a period of time when you have to really struggle in your walk with the Lord? These are some very difficult times and we all encounter them. Council Of Men Or Council Of God

Several months ago my wife and I decided to go in search of a new church and started visiting a church in our area. We had some concern that our children who are three-year-old twins might not do so well with a Sunday morning service. We had been going on Saturday night because having all day Saturday to let them burn off energy before going to church seemed to make them much more manageable when it was time to go to church and for the teachers in the children's area.

What does it mean when Christians say, "God is Love"?

"Beloved, let us love one another; for Love is of God, and everyone that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is Love."1 John 4:7-8, KJV

Love is one of the central Christian theme and a message upon which Christianity pivots. The above verse is a clear indicator that love in itself is not limited and that God Himself is love (agape). The verse in question does not say that 'God is the love'.

Are You A Duck Or A Dog?

Years ago, my parents and I used to go visit a friend that lived way out in the country from time to time.We would go to "the ranch" during the summer to go fishing and then to go hunting in the winter. On occasion we would go up just for the heck of it and spend the day helping work the cattle

The Defeated Christian

 The guilt factor

You've all seen him. The defeated Christian. The guy who tries and tries, but after being saved for thirty years, he still hasn't quit smoking. Instead, he hides his cigarettes before coming to church and won't get too close when shaking your hand for fear you'll smell the smoke on him.

How Are We Saved?

 By Faith or Works

Recently, one person asked if we as Christians are still required to keep the laws in the Torah. Another person a few days later asked me if we are saved by grace through faith or by faith plus works. Then someone asked several days ago about the person who professes to be a Christian but lives his or her life in a deplorable manner.

How To Cripple A Church?

 The Ecumenical Movement

Zechariah 14:9"And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one." It really disturbs me to see how the enemy uses unity to marry the church to the world, all that is needed is compromise and taking God's Word out of context.

 The sin of pride

My family and I moved into the house in which we are currently living a little over two years ago. As with any house you purchase from someone else, there is a period of time where you have to get settled and fix things up the way you like or want them to be. You know things like adding a flowerbed or maybe re-painting a room to a color you like.

Departing From the Faith, Our First Love

 When God chastens

Revelation 3: 19 "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent." As I review my life over the last few years I often wonder why I am not dead meat already. Hebrews 12:8 "But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons." God's crippling of me has always been mixed with mercy and was geared to bring me back to that place I departed from -- my first love, Revelation 2:4 "Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

L.A.Talley

Repent Or Perish

 It's important to witness

Over the last several weeks, I have been working on painting the interior of my house and have become prone to turning on the evening news, while I paint. Ordinarily, I keep up with the current news for the most part, however, I watch the news if for no other reason than for the fact that I also study Bible prophecy. And as a prophecy student, I have noticed that one does not have to watch the news for very long these days to find the end-times prophecy beginning to come to pass.

Several years ago you could not go to a Christian meeting or fellowship with other believers without hearing or seeing the question, "What would Jesus Do?"

The Greatest Story Seldom Told

The Bible is under attack, as it has been since it was first compiled, but with a special fervor and intensity unique to this generation. What makes this generation unique is that the principle attackers are believers themselves. It is possible to be a believer in the Bible and not be a Christian, although it doesn't seem so until you think about it.

The savaging of America's foundation

"Wake up Americans, God is giving us His last warnings"

Though it has been said many times – much more eloquently than I can say it – America's first foundational premise is that there is a Creator-God, and it is this Creator-God who alone gives mankind his rights, not human government. Governments that grant them (Such as the United Nations) can also take them away. But God-given rights take precedence over any government. This is the entire basis of our Declaration of Independence and Constitution.

For Israel, the troubles began with its birth in 1948; ever since, the Jewish state has been targeted by Middle East neighbors for annihilation.

 Get off the fence!

Revelation 3:15 "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot."

Look at the church today. I have never seen this verse proven so clearly as it is now. No one, in general, preaches Christ and Him crucified anymore. That may offend someone. We just can't offend anymore. We might lose a church member: of course, that is the only thing that counts today -- How many people do we have in church.

Is The Bible True?

 Most Christian Ministers think otherwise

Is Bible, the inspired word of God? There are varied views on this subject. For centuries people have debated this topic over and over. Non-believers who have had nothing to do with Christianity have upheld and promoted the view of 'Biblical Errancy'. But it is striking to note that even Christians have started to deny the 'inerrancy of scriptures'. A poll conducted in the U.S. in 1960's surveyed 10,000 pastors, out of which about 75% replied. The question asked was, "whether they believed that the Old and New Testament Scriptures were the 'inspired and inerrant Word of God in faith, history and secular matters'," to which 95 percent Episcopalians, 87 percent Methodists and 82 percent Presbyterians replied "NO". And that was the 60's!!
